Current artist piece
For my current artist piece, I picked a sitting fairy I saw on pintrest. The artist is a college student and it was one of her fairy sketches. I started with the bottom of her body and built it up. When it came to the head I made her neck very thick and trimmed it down to a normal size after the clay hardened a bit so itcould withstand the weight. After I added detail to her body and and cut her head off. I used a blue rubber tool and a needle tool to create the detail on her face. I then added hair by cutting a small long slabs and creating hair like strokes with a needle tool. I added her head and fixed her upper body. I added the wings and that was all. I am proud of her face her body, but the glazing I did was horrible. the wings look decent but the skin tone was completely white, due to the lack of pigment in the Rawhide color. Her face was pink because someone didn't clean the brush properly. Overall I learned that I need t work on glazing. ALOT.
Mask
I started with a large slab and a face mold. I then created the nose and mouth and eyebrow bone. I made eye indents and started to create the flowers by using pieces of slabs. I created a variety of flowers and made lavender, which took an hour to do. I then took the mask of the mold when it was more leather-hard and created a broken look on the bottom sides. I made the eyes as well. I then glazed each flower, lavender, face, and sides. What I need to do better next time Is once again the skin tone. I didn't add enough grey to create the porcelain stonish color.
Mexican Spirit Animal
I made a panda butterfly for my Mexican spirit animal. I created a pinch pot and made a chubby panda base. I made the arms, legs, and ears from a large thick slab and used a damp sponge to make it smoother and not as sharp.
I then made the eye shape with a thin slab. I rolled a ball of soft clay for the nose and blended it. I made the mouth hole with a simple dot with the needle tool. I made the wings with a slab and added detail with a needle tool. The end result was bright green and vibrant.
House
I started with a pinch pot and
cut out windows and the top
of the pot. I carved a door with
a needle tool. For the removable roof, I created a small cone and used thick slip to imprint my finger and slide the clay down to create a look that looked like fall leafs.
I wanted to make it a Disney Fairy's house and in those movies, their houses always had leaf roofs. For the glazing I used greens, oranges, and browns to create a fall look on the roof. I made the actual house a light brown. i added green and small specks of purple under the windows to look like flower box. For the door I added brown streaks to look like wood.
Place Setting
For my place setting, my theme was lavender field cottage. I wanted to give every piece a cream base and have lavender. For a cup I used my 4 cups, which inspired my theme. I made plates with lavender center and outer pieces with flowers. For my bowl I used a glass bowl as a mold. From that I made the bowl a cream color and the hearts a black "stitching" and added a lavnder center piece once again and a yellow flower at the bottom to tie the plate flowers in better.
